Would you name your child the most popular name of the year?

I absolutely love the name Emily! Even if it has been on the top 100 list for practically ever.

I wouldn't name my child just because it's a popular name. I would name my child by what they looked like.

Would you name your child the most popular name of the year?
Only if it meant something special or I absolutely loved the name.

It really annoys me when people say its a name that makes an impression. no, its the person [:

I went to school with people who shared names.

%26amp; people who had unqiue names, trust me. most of the people I knew with unique names said they would trade it for something more common because of the confussed faces they would get or bullying as a child.

Im not saying unique names are bad, but there's nothing wrong with common names. Hopefully people will stop judging other people for naming their kids such popular names.

It's not really a big deal. My daughters name (Emma) has been in the top 20 for years now! But I chose it because it means something special to me... %26amp; I have twins named Isabella %26amp; Connor... Yes, the names are popular but the names suited them so well!

So, basically my anwer is yes [:
Reply:No. Not even if I really, really loved it. Which is why I've given up on Gabriel for my son, because it's just too popular. Maybe for his middle name. I haven't even spoken my next favorite out loud, for fear that one will start racing to the top of the list once I do - it always seems to happen that way!

Most of the time I don't even like the popular names to begin with - I usually like more old-fashioned names that NOBODY uses anymore, like Agatha or Cecily or Louisa. But the few times I've been partial to popular names, I've almost immediately banished them because they're so common. I grew up with a VERY common name, and I hated it.
Reply:No. The child will end up with several others in school with the same name and will have to be called by their first name and last initial. It's not fair to the child. Find another name that has more individuality.

I absolutely loved the names Sophia and Isabella for my daughter, but decided to name her something else once I discovered that both of those names were in the top ten.
Reply:Ran into this question when we were trying to name our two girls a few years ago.

Unbeknownst to us we chose two names that ended up in the top 20 for the year. And both ended up in the top 10 the next year.

Deal with it. I went to school with three Jennifer's,three Michelle's, two David's (and more Joe's than you could imagine) per class.
Reply: No. I like unique names. What if the most popular was something you'd always hated. You'd change your mind just to jump on the band wagon? (That's to all the people who have put thumbs down on those who said it would depend on the name etc)
Reply:By popular I'm guessing many children would have the same name. I like to go with something more unique, not strange, but something that gives the child their own identity. So I would have to say no, I wouldn't.
Reply:If the name I liked happens to be the name of the year that would be fine. I wouldn't pick a name simply because it was the most popular name of the year.
Reply:No, I wouldn't. My name is super popular, and I hate it. My name is Lauren. There are 4 other Laurens in my grade, and 6 in my school. If someone says Lauren, no one ever knows who they're talking to.
Reply:Depends. I have my first son's name picked out and if in a couple years that name is #1, oh well. I chose it years in advance.
Reply:No way. I love unique names. I would never name my kid Emily. I like that name but its waaaay too popular. There are other names out there.
Reply:NOOOO!!!!!! I hate common names! I think people should name there kids so they do not have to go by Emma G. or Emma H. Parents should be creative!

Hope this helps!
Reply:No way.

If I had ever had children, the names I would have chosen are:

Christa Dawn

Erin Menley

Mitchell Thomas

Jay (or Jason) Charles

EMT

Reply:I would try not too but sadly the name I love Aiden has become extremely popular, but I love the name so I'd still use it
Reply:Not unless the name is one of my favorite names. Most of the most popular names of the year I don't like.
Reply:No way! that means that theres a bunch of other kids with that same name. You dont want your child starting school and theres 3 or 4 people in their call room with the same name.
Reply:No, 1 because that means alot of people already named their kid that or they are going to.

2 because I already know what I am going to name my kids

Reply:Only if the name was one that I swore I would always name my child and to heck with what other people think. After all, it's MY child, not theirs.

Reply:Only if I really really really liked it, but probably not.
Reply:I wouldn't unless I absolutely loved it.
Reply:Nope. Too common obviously. I like unique
Reply:absolutely not.
Reply:Only if I loved the name.
Reply:Not even if my life depended on it....
Reply:Depends what the name was

xx
Reply:no.
