boys and girls just curious.....lol
What do you think the most popular name in the world is?
For naming new babies, or in total?
No idea what it could be if you mean the total number of Jacks (say) in the world.
However, in 2005 Jack and Olivia were most popular in Australia; James and Olivia in England and Wales; Lewis and Sophie in Scotland; Jack and Emma in Northern Ireland; Sean and Emma in Ireland; Justin and Emily amongst English-speaking Canadians; Jacob and Emily in the US; Enzo and L茅a in France and Alexander and Marie in Germany.
An interesting one to see would be China - but I can't find any records for them, though the Chinese have the most common surname in the world - Zhang (Anglicised to Chang); there's over 100 million Zhangs in the world.

Reply:Jesus and Mary.
Although in children born over the last 20 years in the USA its Michael for boys and I'm not sure what the most popular girls name would be, Britney or some version of that perhaps.

Reply:Don't know about first names, but as for last names, the most popular name is "Li." This name is used by an estimated 58 million people worldwide.
Would be a heck of a family reunion if they all got together, no?

Reply:It's different in different countries.
Obviously, the most popular names in Iran and the Netherlands are going to be completely different than the popular names in the UK and the US.
My sister-in-law has a book that lists it all. I don't remember what #1 is, but I know Emma and Jack are up there in the UK, I think Emma is also very popular in the US. Aiden is getting up there fast, too. Names like Hanna and Olga and Inga and Hans/z are still popular in Switzerland and the Netherlands.
Reply:popular, do you mean that as most common? john, and liz. if you're asking what society says it the coolest, then i don't have a clue...
